OER Landscapes Linguistics

The teaching unit was designed for pupils at school. It combines indoor and outdoor learning situations. Students document local linguistic landscapes and then work with them in the classroom.
The main learning objective is to promote students’ language awareness and multilingual competence: by exploring local linguistic landscapes and working with them, students will become actively aware of the linguistic diversity in their environment as well as their own linguistic repertoire
It is particularly beneficial if there are students in the class who speak a language other than the one studied at school.

A colorful urban street scene with numerous floating speech bubbles in different shapes and sizes above a street lined with buildings. Two people are standing on the sidewalk and two cars can be seen on the street. The sky is bright and clear.
